Three Principles
The Three Principles (Sankoryo) comprise the underlying tenets shared to this day by all Mitsubishi group companies across diverse sectors. This management philosophy, laid down by fourth Mitsubishi president Koyata Iwasaki, encompasses service and responsibility to society, integrity and fairness, and global perspectives. Origin
The origin of Mitsubishi dates back to 1870, when Tosa clan native Yataro Iwasaki set up a maritime shipping business. Mitsubishi group companies have evolved into their present forms after two world wars, the disbandment of the zaibatsu conglomerates, and other shifts and turns.
