Tokio Marine Group employees Mr. Toyoto Tanaka and Mr. Kenji Kondo, together with two fellow members of the Institute of Actuaries of Japan, have been awarded the 2021 Hachemeister Prize for their paper, “AGLM: A Hybrid Modeling Method of GLM and Data Science Techniques” in May 2021. Established in 1993, the Hachemeister Prize is considered the global pinnacle in its field and is awarded annually by the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) of North America to ASTIN Bulletin or ASTIN or AFIR Colloquium papers based on several criteria but with emphasis placed on the paper's impact for North American actuaries and its practicality of application. This is the first time a Japanese individual has received the award. The authors have been invited to present their prize-winning paper at the 2021 CAS Annual Meeting to be held November 7-10, 2021.
