Universal Can Corporation, a subsidiary of Mitsubishi Materials (MMC) has started production of aluminum cups from recycled used beverage cans (UBC). Given the switch from plastic to aluminum cups under the plastic waste reduction movement in recent years, Universal Can has embarked on the development of, and has established the production technology for, aluminum cups. These aluminum cups have been developed as an eco-friendly container that reduces CO₂ emissions and energy consumption, as well as promoting resource conservation. UBCs pass through the recycling process of the Universal Can Corporation and Mitsubishi Aluminum (MAC) to be reborn as aluminum cups and aluminum drink containers.
