New AI Technology Clarifies AI Control Rationale

Mitsubishi Electric announced that together with RIKEN (The Institute of Physical and Chemical Research) it has developed an AI technology that clarifies the rationale underpinning various AI-based control systems. In many AI systems, the complex calculations and inference process become a black box. This makes such systems difficult to comprehend and presents major hurdles in the application of AI in control systems where reliability and explanatory clarity are sought. The new control technology, through its step-by-step use of AI, clarifies the control rationale and predicts future changes in the operating environment, eliminating black boxes. In addition, in the event of a malfunction, the new technology identifies any deviation from predicted values and then uses physical parameters to identify the cause of the malfunction. This new technology contributes to the realization of AI control systems that are easy to understand and can be used with confidence. Mitsubishi Electric will provide the new technology in its Maisart®* lineup.
