Mitsubishi Paper Mills (MPM) Group is striving to make an active contribution to the prevention of global warming and preservation of biodiversity through the sustainable use of forest resources and through efforts to develop environmentally friendly production technologies and products. Wishing to inform the public of this stance, the Group established the Ecosystem Academy in 2010 to advance environmental education in fields related to forestry under the theme of collaboration between nature and industry making use of the blessings from forests. Under the Japanese Environmental Education Promotion Act, the company-owned Shirakawa Kashi Forest was designated a Fukushima Prefecture Place for Nature-Based Experiences in March 2020. On May 28, 2022, the sixth tree planting gathering was held as a part of the Group’s Experimental Environmental Learning program and, in addition to actual tree planting, a forest mini-tour, forest mini-workshop and forest seminar were held.
