Laboratory of Non-ferrous Extractive Metallurgy Starts Second Term

Mitsubishi Materials (MMC) and Kyoto University in April 2017 established the Laboratory of Non-ferrous Extractive Metallurgy at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, with endowed chairs supported by MMC, and the Laboratory started its second term in April 2022. In recent years, the importance of the decarbonization of society, especially as represented by use of electric vehicles (EVs) and renewable energy, and of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), has been globally recognized. In its second term, the Laboratory’s first-term activities will be enhanced, including further expansion of Web courses for young engineers and strengthening of support for graduate student overseas study. Through the activities of the Laboratory, MMC and Kyoto University will develop human resources to lead and innovate in the non-ferrous metallurgical industry and contribute to the realization of a more sustainable society by making use of our non-ferrous metal recycling business.
