The new headquarters building for Tokio Marine Holdings and Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance, due for completion in 2028, will be known as the “Wooden HQ Building,” as it makes abundant use of domestically grown timber in column and floor structural elements. Wood is an eco-friendly material which absorbs and captures CO₂ as it grows. By utilizing domestic timber for much of the new HQ building’s structure, it is estimated that this wooden structure and other CO₂ reduction measures can reduce embodied CO₂ by approximately 30% compared to regular construction. In addition, the use of high-efficiency building facilities, ground-source heating and cooling systems, and 100% renewable energy, along with other measures, will contribute to the promotion of energy conservation and a carbon neutral society.
