Mitsubishi Auto Leasing Corporation (MAL), MC Retail Energy, Goto Citizens Power, SB Energy, Shell Japan, REXEV, Mitsubishi Motors and Nissan Motor are conducting, from June 9, 2022 through February 17, 2023, an electric vehicle (EV) & plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) charging management demonstration project aimed at the implementation of dynamic pricing. With the growing number of EVs & PHEVs on the roads, there are concerns about the increased load on the power grid due to the concentration of charging at particular times. The demonstration is designed to show how dynamic pricing, in which the cost of power varies with power demand and supply, reduces and levels out power grid loads through the efficient time shifting of charging sessions.
