Mitsubishi
companies helped kids in the Tokyo area enjoy the summer.
Readers of the Mitsubishi Monitor are familiar with the
nature discovery camps for single-parent families sponsored
annually by Mitsubishi Corporation. Those camps are an opportunity
for mothers and their children to escape Tokyo's summer
heat and strengthen family bonds at a mountain retreat.
For artistically inclined preschoolers,
Mitsubishi Motors' Fuso truck and bus unit has sponsored
a summer sketch contest for 23 summers. This year's contest
attracted thousands of entries.
Also feeling young at heart this summer
was NYK Line. The world's largest shipping company sponsored
a summer school at its Maritime History Museum in Yokohama.
In Tokyo, a summer exhibition at the
Mitsubishi Public Affairs Committee highlighted global efforts
to eliminate illiteracy. Promoting literacy is the theme
of the Mitsubishi Impression Gallery--Festival of Asian
Children's Art. The Public Affairs Committee has sponsored
the festivals since 1990 in cooperation with the Asian Federation
of UNESCO Clubs and Associations and the National Federation
of UNESCO Associations in Japan.
