The Philippines owes its nickname to the way its more than 7,000 islands adorn the ocean like pearls. Those exquisite islands host the operations of several Mitsubishi companies.

sf5 Mitsubishi Electric's large manufacturing network in Southeast Asia includes the Philippine subsidiary, Laguna Auto-Parts Manufacturing. That company manufactures and markets electronic components and systems for automobiles.

Lead frames for semiconductor devices are the product line at a Philippine manufacturing affiliate of Mitsubishi Shindoh. The affiliate supplies the lead frames to electronics manufacturers throughout Southeast Asia.

Tokio Marine serves customers in the Philippines through its subsidiary in the capital. Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi also maintains a Philippine presence through its Manila Branch.

A pair of Mitsubishi Motors subsidiaries operate in the Philippines. One manufactures and markets vehicles. The other produces transmissions, engines, and other high-value-added components. sf9

sf10 Mitsubishi Corporation produces precision steel products at one Philippine subsidiary and makes food products and other items at another. It coordinates its trading and investment activities in the Philippines through a Manila office.

Kirin Brewery will broaden its presence in Southeast Asian and Oceanian markets dramatically through a spring 2002 investment in the Philippines' San Miguel Corporation. The Philippine brewer, like Kirin, has a proud history of more than a century. sf11

It provides after-sales service for its products through another Manila-based subsidiary. Important Philippine projects completed by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries include a commuter train line that the Japanese company constructed in Manila.

NYK Line has provided scheduled cargo service to Philippine ports for several decades, and the company provides overland logistics services through its subsidiary New Wave Transport Philippines. In addition, NYK Line recruits most of its crew members in the Philippines and operates a large, state-of-the-art training center there . sf13
