South American Rallying

Mitsubishi Motors Brazil is proving victorious on the water (see cover story) and also on terra firma. A racing team sponsored by the Mitsubishi Motors distributor has won the biggest cross-country rally in South America--again.

The Rally Internacional dos Sertoes (top) takes place over 10 days and covers more than 4,000 kilometers of South American countryside. Victorious ralliers (above) celebrate the honors earned in their Mitsubishi Motors vehicles.
Driver Guilherme Spinelli and navigator Marcelo Vivolo of Mitsubishi Racing Team finished ahead of all their competitors recently in the Rally Internacional dos Sertoes 2003. Especially gratifying about their victory is that their car, an L-200 Evolution, is from a Brazilian factory.
Mitsubishi Motors vehicles also finished 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 10th in the general classification. Vehicles built by Mitsubishi Motors have won the Rally Internacional dos Sertoes five times in the 10-year history of the event.
More than 80 vehicles participated in the 2003 rally. They represented such well-known marques as Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Land Rover, Nissan and Toyota.
