Nikon Sponsors the Prince Cup ‹ One of the World's Premier Amateur Tennis Tournaments

Tokio Marine and its subsidiary, First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH), were major sponsors of the largest-ever art exhibition in the history of the Honolulu Academy of Arts, held April 8ËJune 6. The title of the exhibition was øJapan and Paris: Impressionism, Postimpressionism, and the Modern Era.Ó This was the first major sponsorship of an overseas art exhibition by Tokio Marine.

The exhibition commemorated the 150th anniversary of a treaty of friendship between Japan and the United States, bringing together major impressionist and postimpressionist works from the collections of museums throughout Japan. The Honolulu Academy of Arts is the only comprehensive art museum in the State of Hawaii and is world famous for its collection of oriental art.

Since all of the works except one came from Japan, Tokio Marine and its subsidiary FICOH were natural sponsors. Tokio Marine underwrites non-life insurance in Hawaii through FICOH, which has the biggest share of the local non-life insurance market. Through this exhibition, the two companies sought to contribute to cultural activities in Hawaii and express their appreciation to policyholders in the state.
