Expo 2005 Aichi opened on March 25. The
general theme of the international expo is "Nature's
Wisdom," and this theme examines past challenges
to the natural environment and ways to restore balance
in the future.
Mitsubishi was among the first to embrace
this theme and announce its intention to participate in
the Expo. Its exhibit, entitled "Mitsubishi Pavilion
@ Earth—What if the Moon Didn't Exist?," is
now open to visitors.
How
would it affect the earth if the moon did not exist? Mitsubishi
has given this question visual shape by comparing visions
of our earth without a moon with images of our real world,
showing how the miraculous balance between the moon and
earth has given rise to the natural environment.
ûûThe pavilion's central exhibit is based on the work "What
if the Moon Didn't Exist?" by Neil F. Comins. Visitors
are taken from a world without a moon into a world that
has a moon and overflows with life. As this drama unfolds
the theater screen grows wider and wider until, at the finale,

it entirely surrounds and involves the viewers. The aim
of the exhibit is to let visitors experience directly how
important the preservation of the earth's environment is
to humanity. Anyone who has the chance to
visit Japan is encouraged to attend the Expo and experience
"Mitsubishi Pavilion @ Earth." Please see http://www.mitsubishi.com/expo2005/english/
