Mitsubishi Chemical Europe GmbH (MCE) is located in Duesseldorf (Germany) next to the river Rhine.
This town is an old trading base for the Japanese. The first companies came here 100 years ago. They found good conditions for their business activities and for their private life, and so the Japanese community grew.

The festive atmosphere of the Japanese Day in Duesseldorf

Today approximately 6,500 Japanese live in Duesseldorf. They have their own infrastructure (kindergarten, school, bank, shops, restaurants, etc.) and celebrate a special Japanese day together with the German population each year, ending the day with traditional Japanese fireworks.

Mitsubishi Chemical installed a representative office here in 1961. At that time, the office had only Japanese employees apart from one local German secretary.

The office was changed into a limited liability company in November 1989. Since then, we have conducted sales and marketing for the products of the MCC Group companies, and carried out administration and accounting work for MCC's activities in Europe as well as for four affiliated companies located in Duesseldorf.

MCE is a company of two cultures. We have local German staff and delegated Japanese, who stay usually for a few years in our company before going back to Japan.

Over the years since I joined the company in April 1989, I have said “Auf Wiedersehen” to a lot of colleagues. Great is the pleasure if one of the old colleagues visits us.

As General Manager and proxy I am responsible for administration, the sales of three product groups and safety. I try to relax from all this work with African tribal art, bicycling and, since last year, enjoying the company of my first grandson.
