Interns from UH take part in a business meeting

Since 2004, Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance has accepted interns from the University of Hawaii (UH) and from First Insurance Company of Hawaii (FICOH), Hawaii's most prominent insurance company, as part of its efforts to nurture a premium workforce. This year from May 15 to May 23, three lucky chosen ones were with Tokio Marine & Nichido and, among other things, worked in the International Section and visited affiliated companies. To mark the 95th anniversary of FICOH's establishment, one of the three was a staff member from this company.
FICOH, which is 50-50 jointly owned by Tokio Marine & Nichido and U.S.-based CNA, maintains a strong relationship with UH. FICOH has been active in providing internship opportunities to UH students and hosting special lectures at the university. As part of this ongoing relationship, UH asked FICOH whether it was possible to arrange a program with Tokio Marine & Nichido to help its students gain work experience abroad. Now in its third year, the program has been very well received by FICOH and UH. Last year, one intern landed a job with FICOH after graduating from the university! For Tokio Marine & Nichido, the program has
provided a unique opportunity to contribute to the students and society of Hawaii.
The University of Hawaii, FICOH and Tokio Marine & Nichido are cooperating to make this program better each year. It is the policy of Tokio Marine & Nichido to put a great deal of effort into the medium term nurturing of human resources for the Group through this program.

Mitsubishi Venezolana staff tutor Venezuela's future business people

Since 2004, Mitsubishi Venezolana, Mitsubishi Corporation's Venezuelan subsidiary, has sponsored Junior Achievement, an international non-profit organization dedicated to educating young people about what they call "the economics of life." Working closely with businesses, Junior Achievement aims to inspire the youngsters with a can-do attitude, educate them in the values of free enterprise and help them develop the leadership and workplace skills they need to achieve their ambitions as citizens of the global community.
In addition to monetary support from the company, more than half of the staff at Mitsubishi Venezolana volunteers as tutors in the different programs offered by Junior Achievement. Students are able to learn about the range of professions available to them and deepen their understanding about global challenges and opportunities through direct interaction with business professionals.
The benefits of supporting this internationally recognized organization are many. Not only is it a key part of Mitsubishi Venezolana's local corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities, but it also supports one of the Venezuelan government's current priority areas, to improve the nation's future economic potential. The company also benefits through the networking opportunities with other international companies that support Junior Achievement, the active participation in the training of potential future employees and consumers and the opportunity to develop volunteer programs for its own staff.

Did the Dutch national football team visit the Infocomm in Orlando, Florida, U.S.A? Unfortunately, no. Just before the official start of the World Cup Football Championships in Germany, the colleagues from the Benelux Branch Office o aef Mitsubishi Electric Europe visited Orlando for the Infocomm, the annual conference and exhibition for the professional audiovisual and information communications industry.
Dressed up in orange football shirts, the national color of the real Dutch football team, they were the star attraction at the booth of Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. Complete with names and numbers on the back of the shirts, they looked like a real football team!
