The i-MiEV, the new-generation electric
vehicle (EV) from Mitsubishi Motors, is now attracting widespread attention around
the globe. One of the features that distinguishes the i-MiEV as a revolutionary
new EV is its ground-breaking operating system (OS)—the MiEV OS.
The MiEV OS acts like the brain of the vehicle. It constantly monitors conditions
throughout the vehicle and promptly dispatches commands to fine-tune operations.
One factor that necessitated the development of such an advanced OS is the fact
that EVs incorporate some high-voltage components. Therefore, one function of
the MiEV OS is to monitor the temperature and voltage of the vehicle’s
batteries. When the OS detects elevated temperatures or overcharging, it immediately
shuts down the relevant systems. Furthermore, if it senses a collision from any
side of the vehicle, the OS promptly cuts off the flow of electricity. Simultaneously
working to conserve energy, maximize comfort and ensure safety—the MiEV
OS is truly a ground-breaking feat of engineering. |
