Usually I spend my holidays travelling to many parts of Thailand as well as overseas. There are many Buddhist temples with the different styles unique to each cultural area. There are also plenty of natural attractions: nice beaches in the south, marvelous high mountains in the north, beautiful waterfalls and historical sites. Since I have been in love with art history, I have studied culture and history and have visited most of the ancient places in Thailand since my university days. Most of my foreign friends love coming to Thailand; they all agree that my country is a friendly,
exciting, and welcoming place with lots of variety. Thailand is a destination that offers tremendous value-for-money since it can serve the needs of all types of travelers: the shopaholic, the challenge lover, the athlete, the beach lover, and so on. This year the Tourism Authority of Thailand has chosen for its annual theme, “Amazing Thailand Always Amazes You”. We have promoted the “Sustainable Tourism” program, the “Amazing Thailand Grand Sale” theme of a shopping paradise for tourists as well as appealing to environmentally-conscious travelers by introducing the “Go Green, Go Thailand” ideal through conservation activities such as planting trees and preserving coral reefs.
I think I am lucky to have been born a Thai and to live in Thailand, the land of smiles. Most Thai people love foreigners so I hope very much that everybody in other countries will come to experience our “Thainess”. You are all welcome to Thailand. Amazing Thailand Always Amazes You, and that is true!
I’ve been working at Bangkok Mitsubishi UFJ Lease (BMUL) for 14 years since I graduated from university. This is one of the unbelievable things in my life: to spend such a long time in just one company! I have grown up with the company and seen so many changes for the better year by year. When I first joined the company, there were about 40 employees but now we have almost 70. I have had the great fortune to be rotated through many departments and to learn the whole of the leasing business, both the administration and marketing sides. The working environment and my colleagues here
have been very nice. We have been very happy working here and being a part of the company’s success. The business has expanded and is making excellent progress in Thailand.
BMUL is a work-life balance place. We have also organized annual company outings and year-end parties where employees can relax and enjoy many activities. We have had many good opportunities to play as a team and to spend memorable times together. I have been so happy being a part of BMUL where I can extend my working skills as well as develop both on an individual basis and in my relationships with my colleagues. Working with my colleagues has taught me to think of others, to share with and to care for one another. It is very important to learn that everyone is different and to live happily with those differences.

Mitsubishi Chemical Singapore Pte Ltd (MCS) is my second job after graduating from high school, having left Citibank (Trade Operations) back in 1994. Having worked in MCS for more than a decade now, it feels like a second home to me. I am in the Sales and Marketing department, rendering operational support to my colleagues and my Japanese boss, Mr. Takeshi Kawasaki. MCS is located in the Central Business District (CBD) in Anson Road.

Singapore is known as a “fine country” to foreigners. If you come to our shores, you will soon realize the reasons for the derivation of this “reputation”. Singapore is governed by many strict rules and regulations such as the prohibition of chewing gum, littering, drugs, weapons, eating or drinking on trains, smoking in non-smoking areas, etc. The list goes on. Fines or imprisonment awaits those who violate the rules. But having said that, Singapore is still a very attractive place to visit. Besides being a “fine” and
safe country, we have many places of attractions and interests. For shopaholics, a visit to Orchard road is a must. There you will find many upscale shopping centers and you can shop till you drop. Ion, Ngee Ann City, Paragon, 313 Somerset are the more popular ones. Those who wish to chance their luck may wish to visit our two new casinos in Marina Bay Sands and Resort World in Sentosa. Traveling in Singapore is a breeze as many parts are well connected by the MRT train. It takes just 30mins to travel from the suburbs to town by MRT.
Eating is another favorite past time of Singaporeans. Being such a small country Singapore has little to offer in terms of natural sights. Naturally, Singaporeans turn to eating as one form of leisure activity. As a cosmopolitan and a multi-racial city, Singapore has much to offer when it comes to a gastronomic selection of food. The streets are well populated with places to eat. I must say that seafood is well liked by many Singaporeans and foreigners alike. A cluster of nice seafood restaurants can be found on East Coast Road. What I like about this area is that it offers not only delicious and sumptuous seafood at very affordable prices, but also a charming ambience as the restaurants face the sea. The best time to go is in the evening when the sun is setting. You can feel the warm breeze blowing in your face while you tuck into the seafood. Chili crabs with deep-fried buns is one dish I cannot do without.

To me, life is not just about work. Spending time with my family, friends and colleagues is part of a balanced lifestyle. I chill out with friends and colleagues after work, going to movies, karaoke, eating and indulging in “durian” (a succulent fruit with a very unusual odor) sessions. As you can see from the photograph, my colleagues were grinning with delight at the sight and smell of durians. I spend the weekends with my family at the beach, zoo, botanical gardens, Sentosa and the parks where we cycle, swim and picnic together. At home, I love playing Wii games with my two young kids.
I love traveling and I used to travel for leisure when I was younger. But now I have a family, I travel less frequently. I had to postpone a family trip to Japan in March this year
to next year due to the 11 March earthquake and tsunami tragedy. Despite the devastation, I am relieved to see that Japan is slowly recovering from the crisis. Gambatte, Japan!
