NYK group company NYK Trading Corporation has connected a 500-kilowatt (kW) solar energy generating system to the Port Murray, New Jersey, community’s power grid. The largest system within NYK group, located at a warehouse owned by Yusen Logistics (Americas) Inc. and consisting of 6,246 solar panels, is expected to generate about 650,000
kWh of electricity per year. The clean energy generated by the solar system will be used to power the warehouse, and any surplus electricity will be sold to local power companies.
     This project is eligible for Solar Renewable Energy Certificates offered by the State of New Jersey as well as a subsidy from the U.S. federal government and will help promote the use of renewable energy sources.

The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Brussels Branch (Belgium) staff and their families provide regular support as part of their regional volunteer activities to a local home for children suffering serious physical disabilities. In August 2012, the volunteers cleaned the windows and the special wheelchairs used at the home, and in October repainted the inside of the facility working with staff from NYK’s local
NYK Bulkship (Atlantic). While receiving the grateful thanks of the short-staffed organization running the home, the volunteers from both companies also gained a very valuable and meaningful experience. The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ is committed to working with other Mitsubishi Group companies in continuing its locally-based volunteer activities.

Mitsubishi Motors Corporation subsidiary Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. (MMNA) is supporting the University of Southern California (USC) as it develops a campus-wide Smart Grid “Living Laboratory” project. The Smart Grid Demonstration Project will work to further develop virtually all phases of electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure to accommodate widespread EV
usage in the future. It will simulate a city with a population between 50,000 to 60,000 and document experiences operating a fleet of electric vehicles under a wide range of conditions over a period of two years.
     MMNA will be giving all-round support to USC, providing a total of twelve Mitsubishi i-MiEV vehicles, several Level 2 EVSE charging systems, and will share a wealth of information based upon the company’s industry-leading know-how in the area of 100% electric-powered vehicles.
