Mitsubishi Chemical has begun marketing a plant factory system
which employs LED lighting. The company sold its first plant
factory to the Russian company Mir Upakovki in St. Petersburg.
The system installed provides the Mir Upakovki factory with all the
facilities needed to cultivate vegetables, including air conditioning
to maintain the right temperature and a water treatment plant with
filtration cycles to allow reuse of water. LEDs provide all the light
required for photosynthesis. The innovative system allows fresh
vegetables to be harvested
