Yanosuke Iwasaki

Younger brother (by 16 years) of Yataro Iwasaki. Grew up enjoying the deep affection of Yataro, and went to study in the U.S. at the age of 21. After returning to Japan, he entered Mitsubishi Shokai. Became president in 1885, following Yataro's death. Separated the shipping business and established Mitsubishi Company. Shifted the core pillar of the business from sea to land and worked to expand and diversify a range of businesses. After stepping down as president, he became Governor of the Bank of Japan. Adopted the gold standard and greatly contributed to establishing Japan's financial system.
