The birth of a new cultural spot in Marunouchi: Relocating the Seikado Bunko Art Museum Exhibition Gallery

As one of Mitsubishi's 150th anniversary projects, the Seikado Bunko Art Museum Exhibition Gallery will be relocated in 2022 from Okamoto in Setagaya to the first floor of Meiji Seimei Kan, an Important Cultural Property located in Marunouchi, Tokyo. The gallery houses old Japanese and Chinese documents and ancient oriental artworks collected across the two family generations of the second Mitsubishi president, Yanosuke Iwasaki, and the fourth president, Koyata Iwasaki. The historical building Meiji Seimei Kan will feature an exhibition where visitors can appreciate seven national treasures, including a Yohen Tenmoku tea bowl, 200,000 classical documents that include 84 Important Cultural Properties, and over 6,500 ancient oriental artworks.
