The Koiwai Farm Foundation: Protecting the historical architecture of Koiwai Farm, a site of relevance to Mitsubishi's history

Co-founded by the second Mitsubishi president, Yanosuke Iwasaki, and owned by the third president, Hisaya Iwasaki, Koiwai Farm cultivated barren fields into the lush lands that they are today. With its dairy farming and forestry business, the farm has contributed to the development of Japan's agriculture, forestry and livestock industry. Koiwai Farm has 21 historical buildings that are designated as Important Cultural Properties, and the Koiwai Farm Foundation was established in December 2019 to study and research these properties academically, as well as to popularize them. Additionally, the foundation will restore, manage, preserve, and environmentally improve these buildings, and in preserving them for future generations, contribute to promoting academia and culture. The Mitsubishi 150th Anniversary project Committee is helping to establish the foundation.
