Expanding Activities to Conserve the Future Global Environment

Our sense of danger about climate change is greater than ever before as the damage caused by heat waves, floods, powerful typhoons and drought continues to escalate in all parts of the world. The Mitsubishi Group is engaged in a wide range of initiatives, including prevention of environmental pollution, energy transition and forest management, in order to maintain and sustain the Earth’s irreplaceable environment, and we will continue to ever expand these activities.

Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance

Industry-first Insurance for Solar Power Operators

Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance has built an insurance system for solar power operators and will start providing the coverage in December 2021. Today, as the introduction of solar power facilities expands rapidly, the environment and risks surrounding operators are changing in major ways. In response to these changes, the company, working with the Japan Photovoltaic Energy Association, has designed a line of products that indemnify against disposal costs before and during external funding as well as against liability risks in the ownership, use and management of solar power facilities amid sharply increasing cyber risks. The company will roll out this insurance system more widely as it works to support the healthy growth of the solar power industry and the further uptake of renewable energy.
