On the threshold of the 21st Century, the Mitsubishi Group of Companies affirm the following guiding principles in conducting business.

(1) While the members of the Mitsubishi Group are independent and mutually autonomous, they share three guiding principles incorporated in the "Sankoryo."

(2) Although announced in the 1930s by Mr. Koyata Iwasaki, even after 70 years, the spirit and values of the "Sankoryo" remain alive and current.

(3) There have however been dramatic shifts in values, the structure of society and environment since the "Sankoryo" was first announced, and therefore some revisions are necessary to bring it up to date.

(4) Accordingly, we set forth a new interpretation of the "Sankoryo" to provide a common set of management guidelines for the Mitsubishi Group of Companies.

"Shoki Hoko"

Strive to enrich society, both materially and spiritually, while contributing towards the preservation of the global environment.

"Shoji Komei"

Maintain principles of transparency and openness, conducting business with integrity and fairness.

"Ritsugyo Boeki"

Expand business, based on an all-encompassing global perspective.

The Mitsubishi Group of Companies will be facing an increasingly global operating environment in the 21st Century, one in which competition will be borderless. It is more important than ever that we reaffirm our commitment to a common philosophy and set of values. On such a basis, we must foster our relationship of mutual trust while expanding as an open organization into the New Century.
