Supporting Innovation from the Heart of Silicon Valley

The Silicon Valley office of Mitsubishi Corporation (Americas) plays a key role in connecting global innovation with our business groups in Japan. Our mission is to capture emerging trends, identify high-potential startups, and help create new business opportunities across multiple industries. By engaging with the local ecosystem, supporting cross-domain initiatives, and leveraging platforms such as M-Lab, our office functions as a bridge between Silicon Valley’s technological advances and Mitsubishi’s global business strategy.
As part of the corporate team, my role is to support business group members in their business development activities, ensuring that their strategies align with new technologies and market shifts. I also help facilitate M-Lab, our consortium of Japanese companies operating in Silicon Valley. In addition, I assist with scouting activities for Mitsubishi’s newly launched corporate venture capital arm, helping identify startups and innovations that can create value across the Mitsubishi Group. Through these responsibilities, I work at the intersection of global technology, corporate strategy, and cross-cultural collaboration.

A Culture Powered by Passion

Silicon Valley is a place where innovation is woven into everyday life. Coffee shops buzz with founders discussing new ideas, engineers debating technical breakthroughs, and investors searching for the next wave of innovation. There is an intensity and passion in the air and people are deeply driven by their work. When meeting new people, conversations naturally drift toward the latest technologies, current projects, and what each person is passionate about, reflecting how deeply rooted tech and creativity are in the community. As a hub for talented engineers and ambitious thinkers from around the world, the region thrives on this collective curiosity. Yet this energy is balanced by California’s sunny weather and easy access to nature. Many people recharge through hiking, cycling, or simply enjoying the outdoors, creating a unique culture where ambition and well-being coexist.

Finding Calm in the California Sun

Weekends in Northern California offer a refreshing contrast to the fast-paced rhythm of Silicon Valley. I enjoy exploring local wine shops, discovering new bottles, and sharing a glass with friends on weekends. When the weather is nice, I sometimes trek through nearby redwood forests and coastal trails, taking in the region’s natural beauty. One of my guilty pleasures is visiting the many Asian supermarkets in the area, thanks to the region’s large Asian population, there is no shortage of new marts to explore and great deals to hunt for. I also cherish simple gatherings with friends and family, sharing meals, and enjoying long conversations. These moments bring balance to my life and recharge me for the week ahead.
