Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking (MUTB), together with Mizuho Trust & Banking, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank and Resona Bank, in November 2022 launched the Trust Future Project, marking the 100th anniversary of the enactment of the Trust Law and Trust Business Law in April 1922. A questionnaire conducted by the four banks in June 2022 showed that while more than 40% of those aged 65 and over understood the services and products of trust banks, the figure was less than 20% for those aged between 20 and 54. Given this situation, the four banks will use the Trust Future Project to raise awareness about trust banking through the promotion of discussion and financial education that will lead to the development of new trust products designed to provide solutions to such social issues as the declining birthrate and aging population; financial knowledge diffusion; environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors; and human capital management.
