Best of both worlds in New York

Mitsubishi Imaging (MPM), Inc. is based in Rye, New York, and supplies paper for Ink Jet, Photo and specialty papers. When I started with Mitsubishi back in 1990, our office was in Manhattan and our paper department was only a small division of Mitsubishi International Corporation(A subsidiary company of Mitsubishi Corporation). It was very exciting to be part of such a big company that took up several floors of the building, and we even had our own cafeteria. The larger part of our business was in photo paper, film, graphic arts paper, supplies and printers. We convert imported paper to custom sizes and packaging. As time and technology transitioned our business from photos to digital ink jet, so too did our division change. In 1995, we spun off from MIC and moved out of the city to the more suburban town of Rye, New York, and formed Mitsubishi Imaging as a subsidiary company of Mitsubishi Paper Mills Limited. I feel fortunate to be part of the creation of a new office and the success of our new company. We have continued to thrive here in Rye, and I feel I was able to experience the best of both worlds by working in a large, busy city, and now a more relaxed town.

My Time at Mitsubishi

I started part time as a billing and filing clerk, and then moved to inventory, and then accounting, and now I’m back to inventory, where my main responsibilities include conversion of master rolls to finished goods, inventory warehousing reconciliation, and all aspects of inventory functions. Office life here in Rye is very busy, keeping up with the many changes that technology brings to our field. My coworkers feel more like family, and we like to enjoy occasional outings or even some ice cream. When COVID hit, our office closed and we all worked remotely from home, which was quite a challenge, and a change again from the office and coworkers to just quiet and my family. Now, we have settled on a hybrid work setting, with employees both working from home and going into the office a few days each week. And again, I have the best of both worlds, experiencing both office life and working from home.

About Me

I live with my family in Mahopac NY, a smaller town about 30 miles north of the office. I have two children—a daughter, Nicole, age 23, and a son, Steven, age 26, and I am very proud of them both. When I am not with family and friends I enjoy my pets, gardening (my coworkers enjoy when I bring in tomatoes) and the outdoors. I have two cats and two dogs. In keeping with Mitsubishi Japanese culture, my dogs are akitas—a boy, Kuma, and a girl, Inu. My home is on a lake, so it is very peaceful and relaxing.

Once again, I can say I have the best of both worlds, working with a great team at Mitsubishi and having a great family home life.
